The researchers think they've shown that behaviour patterns such as marriage and children actually lower testosterone levels. This is a biological mechanism that allows for monogamy and stable families, they speculate.
of course, taking for granted is not entirely explained by this - I think we largely don't realise the extent to which we do it, and how that might make our SO feel. |
