Sleeping at work by whybird 2002-06-03 21:14:45
Well, that was an interesting experience.

It's the middle of the day here. Suddenly, I found myself almost nodding off at the keyboard.

Well, it was time for lunch anyway. I grabbed my wandered off and looked for somewhere out of the way. (we've only been in this newly refurbished building about 6 months; I knew there'd be nooks and crannies waiting to be discovered).

I looked behind one door which said "fire hydrant", which looked like it would be no larger than a cupboard - but what did I find - a room! admittedly a very, very small room, but just enough room to lie down.... It has a bare concrete floor, but there was also a large piece of corrugated cardboard in there which made a nice little floor mat. The only other furnishing are a fire hydrant pipe and a florescent light (with it's own switch). It's not quite rectangular due to the large hydrant pipe and 2 walls cuting into one corner of the rectangle.

So, I made myself comfortable, wondering if sleep would be possible in such an unusual spot. I was also thinking that the disadvantage of such a well hidden spot would be that if I were to die quietly in there, no-one would know where I was until the smell got bad... but I dismissed that as unlikely.

To my surprise, the sound of my own snore woke me up about 1/2 an hour later. I feel SO much better! This is brilliant.

I'm seriously considering mounting two large hooks and buying a cheap string hammock for use at lunch times! Of course I'd take down the hammock when it was not in use so as not to be in the way of any firefighters.

My own little secret spot - hooray!

Anyone else got spots like this?
