Good Morning! by Naruki2002-06-03 18:42:48

You can muse all you want, of course. by Nea 2002-06-03 19:33:01
Feel free to gab amongst yourselves. I just don't want people to read you post think "gee, maybe I should try to beat the translation thread" and end up with a bunch of empty posts or whatever when the board first comes up. I know what you're aiming for, but a lot of the new folks may not. So I posted in hopes of discouraging first post behavior.

And I can only speak for myself, but I haven't moderated anyone for asking about the missing cartoon or saying good morning. When there were serious first post problems things were more strict. If they get bad again we may have to re-think the kinder gentler thing. Yes, I'm pretty sure that CrazySteve has been using his alternate question of the day to try to get in at the bottom of the board. He was called on it by some others last week. I'm not thrilled by it, but if he posts something that has some content (like a question to get conversation going) should it be moderated? If that gets decided as a yes, I have to make a judgement call every single morning as to whether the early posters were just attempting to be fast or whether they would have posted the same thing even if it had been a few minutes later. *shrug* Right now, I'd rather err on the side of not stopping early morning discussion.
