How many people remember by patch2006-11-19 12:55:59
300 baud was never the bomb. by nin_man2002-06-03 08:08:54

I don't know why you got that feeling. by nin_man2002-06-03 13:47:34
It still beat the heck out of... by HadEnuf 2002-06-03 14:27:41
...a decwriter at 110 baud--especially with the way those things ate ribbons; or the twenty-minute drive, each way, and calming a flaky security system, to handle midnight emergencies at ork.("There's a storm coming--shut down the VAX and all the UN*X boxen!") Gimme a glass tty at 300, over either of those, any day!

Transfer files that way? Only if it was faster than driving there; but that hardly qualifies as "it s-cked".

The funny thing is, there are still times I'm lucky to get 300bps throughput, between any two random points--they're just a small minority of occasions, now, instead of being most (or all) of the time.
