He thought he was something special because he had his MCSE. One day, I was talking to the LAN Admin (who had previously been on e help desk and done the PC/Printer tech work) about upgrading my PC (OK, I was trying to see if he still had any "connections" that could get me "discounts" on components) when Mr. I've-Got-An-MCSE-So-I-Know-More-Than-You walks over and butts in, telling me that "It requires years of school and training to be able to build, upgrade, and repair PCs. This is something that you should probably have a professional like me do." I went off on him, and told him something on the order of,
Listen to me, you ignorant, cocky, little [expletive deleted]. I have been building, upgrading, and repairing PCs since before you even started learning how to USE them, and I've NEVER gone to any classes to learn how. I know more about what goes on inside that beige metal box than you EVER will, and the insinuation that a piece of paper with the letters "MCSE" written on it somehow makes you a professional has got to be one of the most outlandish things I've ever heard. Do yourself a favor and crawl BACK under your rock and don't come out until you can tell me where the interrupt vector table on a PC is located.
I think he's still tearing PCs apart, looking for that table. :) |
