I've kept Ostrich before, and they don't have the ability to dig holes, really.. HOWEVER, they eat anything they can swallow and WILL stick their heads down holes to grab for anything they can get a hold of (like mice or bugs). When frightened, they stampede or attack, kicking with a ~300 lb psi kick of their daggar-like middle toe nails.
