Flash help!!

A flash project I'm working on (Flash 5, under Win98) has a custom cursor. The cursor seems to work fine in stand-alone .exe mode, but when the flash game is served up via a Web page, it vanishes inside the playing field, specifically under Flash 6.

Any ideas? When I comment out this first line:

this._visible= false;
startDrag ("", true);

the cursor appears, but leaves an instance of the cursor where it started on the playing field.
