for a persons name do you do first letter then a word/attribute relating to them? The local deaf community here I was told does that for names. My exhusbands bosses wife was a teacher at the school for the deaf here and years ago when I was using signs with my son(he has a variety of stuff but isn't deaf and was non verbal til around 2). My son no longer uses signs thease days(sometimes now he talks too much)... though he remembers the odd one. The example the woman gave us by the way was "J" for Jennifer and signing long hair...
