WineX and Lindows are both Wine-based by smcv 2002-06-02 15:40:35
Most of the games I've tried will work on ordinary Wine (Half-Life is fine, Jedi Outcast needs a tweak to one Wine source file, Starcraft is a little slow but works fine).

Personally I'm not too pleased with either of the closed Wine-based projects - it's legally dubious how Lindows don't give anyone source code for the GPLed code "their" OS incorporates (plus it seems to run everything as root; always having "deity" priviledges is silly with purpose-built Unix programs and pretty ridiculous when running a wobbly emulator), and Transgaming (WineX) have annoyed the Wine developers so much they changed Wine to a more restrictive license, and also recently warned a Debian developer not to make a "non-free" binary only package for WineX (they basically said if the packager went ahead, the next WineX release would get a license forbidding this).
