Well I've noticed depending on where they come from if they are french canadian the accent might be quite strong. My roommates family is from Hull I think and a few are in Quebec around Montreal I think. Some of our aquaintances speak with a very heavy accent but usually I know what they are saying... a few though can speak either english or french with no decernible accent in either language. My roommate can speak french with a reasonable quebec accent though he's born in BC and his parents have no real accent.(actually second thought his dad has a mild accent and was from sask.)
