| read up on dresden, germany. firebombed it for weeks. the english bombed for 2 days or so and left. we just kept dropping bombs on a civillian target. there was nothing left after three days and we *still* dropped bomber after bomber, group after group of fire bombs on rubble. why? becuase we could. people aren't any better than animals. we have the ability to think more critically and compromise better, but back a human into a corner, even if he's valedictorian of harvard, oxford, yale, cambridge, whatever, that person will kill with savagery that would make even the most blood thirsty cringe a bit. we are animals, we have instincts to attack if we are attacked. through society we have only gained this instinct on a larger level, patriotism. you attack a place 3000 miles away, if it is our counrty we will fight. same thing, just larger scale. |
