IIRC, he sent me an ICQ message in 1999 saying "It's a comic strip about an ISP. It's very funny." After reading that day's comic and the few before that, I thought, "Well, it's not bad, but it isn't all that hilarious either." A few months later I managed to read the archives, and I understood it all, and I've been reading it ever since.
Ironically, this same friend who recommended it to me now moans that UF hasn't been funny for years. Strangely, he still reads it every day, apparently to criticise it. :-) |
