This department does employee benefits planning and tracking and whatnot for a few hundred OTHER companies. Right now, if an employee wants to see how much money they've got invested, they've got to call and speak to one of the plan admins, who's got to take time out of their day, open up the company, find the employee, and tell them.

The automated response or web retrieval is supposed to offer access through other avenues, as well as offer the ability for employees to print out earnings reports for themselves (or employers, for that matter) without having to track down one of the plan admins and interrupting whatever it is they do all day.
