I admit, I'm the odd one out when it comes to reading, I really like reading and I read a variety of subjects. I know the characters and basic plot lines of a lot of the classics. I generally get a lot of the references that many adults don't. I understand the necessity of the entire class reading the same book but the class should at least take a vote or something. Oh, wait that would make the classroom a form of democracy instead of a dictatorship and the tyrannical dictator that is my English teacher. Yes I could complain about the teacher but she's 'leaving' next year anyway so it doesn't matter. And no, I'm not bitter... yet.
