| The truth is, I did put a lot of thought into releasing a CD containing all of Dust Puppy's & Erwin's songs to date. The issue lies with SOCAN, which is Canada's version of the RIAA. To do this legit, I'd have to fork over in the neighbourhood of $40K per song bed. That means if I release twelve songs on the CD, I'm looking at close to half a million dollars just for the use of the song beds alone.
Ouch.
On a brighter note, any fan who wants to record the lyrics to DP&E songs are more than welcome to, provided I get a copy of the recording, and that they don't sell it or otherwise make any money from it (if you do, you'll have a far nastier hydra than me to worry about!). Same old same old, please make sure you place attributions and credit CLEARLY on the body of work, blah blah blah. |
