Alan Arkin played Schmendrik the Magician in the animated production of The Last Unicorn, based on a book about the last unicorn. I found the script, even, to verify that the term 'muffin man' was used, and indeed it was (one of those cliche 'do you know the muffin man' type situations that I hate).
