...then for all the senator knows, you're a redneck with one tooth and an alcohol problem visiting his local library during a fit of relative sobriety, getting peeved at the system, and.. you get the idea. A college student is at least getting an education. You're a constituent, and if you approach the senator with respect to his station (IE: make a personal effort such as certified mail) then the senator should return the favor (IE: a personal response, something besides a form letter).
