Ways to irritate tech support by crazysteve2002-03-28 11:51:32
When Customer Service thinks by slayer 2002-03-28 15:18:18
they can tech an issue because they once stayed on the line and heard how a tech did it(note to any CS persons out there, YOU CANT FIX PROBLEMS, THAT'S WHY WE HAVE TECH SUPPORT). I got the following call last week:

customer: "Umm, I was just transferred over from CS (cold transfer, no cookie for CS). The person over there was helping me with my issue." (at this point I invite my manager to plug into my phone because I know how this story goes).

Me: "How exactly did he help you."

customer: "He had me me uninstall (this is usually a bad thing because the product I support should be uninstalled using a special application only tech support knows about).

Me: "Sir, did he have you use [insert special app here]?"

customer: "Uh, no." He had me type regedit and then had me delete a bunch of stuff."(note: by now my managers jaw has literally dropped as far as it will go)

me: "And what is the problem you're having now?"

customer: "Well originally I couldn't login to your product, but now I get an error message saying my specified path is wrong when I open anything."

At this point I refer him to OEM and Microsoft, and the manager goes off to call CS's manager.
