that s1+s2/pi does not equal r. That term is there for the express purpose of making the formula more general. Without s1+s2/pi, the formula (in this case, (Theta)rē) only works for triangles whose sides opposite supplementary angles were equal and exactly 1/4 of the sphere's circumference: in other words, the top vertex had to be at the pole and the other sides had to terminate at the Equator. Makes sense? Good. :)
Well, arrg. I hope someone can help me with a proof.
