...a Star Trek short story once a long time ago (it was before ST:TNG came out on TV so it must've been early-80's) where a scene begins in Engineering with Scotty just finishing up the telling of that joke to some crewmen, and all that was there was the punchline. It was years later before I heard the rest of the joke.
