Squirrels and chipmunks by mikosullivan 2002-03-26 08:36:19
This morning on my walk to work I saw a squirrel that looked uncommonly chipmunkish. He was shaped like a squirrel and was mostly gray like a squirrel, but he had dark fur on the top of his head, a distinct white spot at the tip of his snout, and a ringed tail. I did some googling but couldn't find an answer about the compatibility of chipmunks and squirrels. Could this little guy have been the product of a squirrel/chipmunk liason?
