And neither does M-W ;)

Main Entry: réˇsuˇmé
Variant(s): or reˇsuˇme or reˇsuˇmé
/'re-z&-"mA, "re-z&-' also 'rA- or "rA-/
Function: noun
Etymology: French résumé, from past participle of résumer to resume, summarize, from Middle French resumer
Date: 1804
1 : SUMMARY
2 : CURRICULUM VITAE

A curriculum vitae: a short account of one's career and qualifications prepared typically by an applicant for a position

Personally I don't want to see a CV over 2 pages. I don't include references in that respect. Maybe theres a language difference here - I've never heard a CV called a resume in the UK, its just a CV - whether you are an academic or in the 'real world' as you so delightfully put it. I don't consider the two 'worlds' as requiring differing methods of submitting your skill set in order to gain a position.

But what would I know, I've worked in both and I do the CV reading, interviewing and hiring....
