| aka a resume ;-)
Its easy to put your skills down - I never said that they had to be formally learnt. I haven't taken a single CS module or subject in my life. Everything that goes on my CV related to computing is self taught.
A basic CV layout would be :
Personal details (name, birthday, address, contact details, marital status, nationality etc)
Education details (running in reverse order down the page so your most recent education is at the top).
Work experience (again in reverse chronological order)
Skills applicable to the job you are applying for. I personally re-write this section for each job I apply for. This is where you include all the stuff you've learnt at home.. like making a firewall, building PC's, building your home network, which OS and hardware you are familiar with etc. etc. etc.
Finish it off with a quick review of things you're interested in outside of work/computers (hey we do like to see that you're nicely 'rounded') and finally the names of a couple of people likely to give you a good character/work reference (no your friends do not count!).
My email is on my Diary page, thrash something out and send it to me and I'll send it back with comments. Or I'll send my CV to you to take a look at (its *badly* formatted - but the content is there ;)) |
