What might be scottish ones that I know of are from my nana as she was of the clan Ainslie. Apprently small song birds bring luck/good omen. If songbirds/chickadee's/finches/sparrows sing on your window sill you might be expecting a baby or something... supposedly they can bring new souls. Black birds particularly magpies/crows are what takes the soul on death. Also they are said to be a gate to the otherside. Obviously that didn't freak my nana out as she kept a magpie with a split tongue as a pet and taught it to speak. Another is if a wild bird flies into your home it means someone from your home will soon likely die. This particular superstition terrified my nana as I think it happened and did ring true for her. Bizzarely enough when my nana was old and suffering from dementia. My mom claimed that a bird flew in our house. Three months later my nana died.(also oddly my aunt predicted her mom would die a few months earlier on tarot cards) As for supersition on tarot cards. I was told if you shuffle them the wrong way it can cause bad energy or something. It probably is bad luck to deface them if you have used them or if they had been in use but not sure. If they are a new deck thats not been used and was just bought it probably doesn't mean much. Supposedly they take on some of the users/handlers energies. I knew some ages ago into it such as my aunt.<shrug>
