But right now I am thanking God for Microsoft, and blessing their superior coding abilities.

In short, I installed PGP, which instantly fried my computer. Remedial steps then went horribly wrong, and Windows intervened with a very polite bsod saying that it would not allow the useless piece of garbage to completely ruin my computer. Uninstalling PGP left me with a working computer, but a broken net connection. Troubleshooting this did nothing to help - the advanced tab had somehow been zapped. As a last resort, I turned to System Restore - miracle of miracles! It worked! I'm back up and none the worse (except for the mental scars) for the experience.

System Restore on anything but 2k or XP is probably suicide, but on XP it went like a dream.

I go now to spread the joy....
