Hey Ma! Recipe for ye... by warhawk 2002-03-20 09:53:27
Mentioned this yesterday when you asked about venison recipes, just found the sucker while cleaning today. Lotsa good memories wrapped up in this one... namely stuffing myself stupid on meatballs and gravy, then not moving until thrown out by the friend who made them. ;)

Svedish Meatballs

Ingredients:
1 lb. ground Bambi (or beef, to preference)
1/2 lb Jimmy Dean regular pork sausage (other brands work, but this always tasted best)
1/2 cup minced onions (Optional. VERY optional. I loooooathe onions)
1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup bread crumbs
1 tbsp. minced parsley
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper (preferrably coarse ground)
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 egg
3 cup milk or cream

Preparation:
Meat:
Mix Bambi, sausage, onions (still optional! ;p), bread crumbsm parsley, worcestershire sauce, and egg. Shape mix into walnut-sized balls. Brown in 1/4 cup hot fat (not oil, FAT, this is important momentarily), then remove meat.

Gravy:
Stir the following ingredients into the fat: Flour, salt, pepper, milk.
Return meat to gravy and cook 1-1.5 hours at low.

Recipe amounts can be increased or reduced, depending on preferences. This particular version has a LOT of gravy, purrrrrfect for smothering a mound of meatballs and mashed potatoes.

Oh great, now I'm hungry. I knew I shouldn't have read this recipe.
