| ...walking around the building, because I'm tired of sitting. There's some electrical work being done, with new outlets being dropped in, new switches installed, all sorts of fun things. This building used to be the local Social Security office, and it was built to be able to withstand fires, bombs, and even a tornado or three. This was accomplished by building the entire frame out of steel. A little one-story building of roughly 1,000 square feet, made of steel and cinderblocks. I'm all safe and secure here, but installing new switches and running new wiring requires an oxyacetylene torch to cut holes in the steel. Imagine my surprise as I walked near this work to look down and see a patch of carpet on fire. It's okay. I always hated this stuff, anyway. |
