Question of the Day! by kickstart2002-03-18 00:00:05
Well, it's like this... by Naruki 2002-03-18 14:05:21
There was an incredibly long flame war about the best light bulb to use, mostly between the very common standard 60 watt bulb camp and the 49.2 watt non-standard plug bulb camp. The 60 watters claimed that everybody else uses 60 watts, and it fits easily, and uses a full 60 watts to provide light (paraphrasing what they understood from the 60 watt bulb manufacturer's literature, of course). The 49.2 watters said, well, yeah, but it burns out easily, too. Besides, the 49.2 watt bulb provides just as much light, but doesn't use as much energy to do so! To prove this, they called the 60 watters "stupid lusers" and threw fecal matter at them. Well, the 60 watters didn't take this lying down, so they jumped up and yelled that nobody in their right mind would use a bulb that doesn't simply plug in to the existing light socket, and then threw rotten eggs back. The 49.2 watters rallied with claims of "open electricity" (whatever the hell that's supposed to mean) and said that an adapter plug could be readily assembled from spare washing machine parts by following the instructions in the man pages, but only if you already knew how, because they weren't written in laymen's terms, or with enough detail. Plus, they made disparaging comments about the 60 watters ancestry.

Well, to make a long story short, somebody said something about Hitler and they haven't gotten around to changing anything yet. There's rumors that the room will simply be "deprecated".
