I actually run one of the sites linked from bootdisk.com and I've not found anything free that will let you write to an NTFS partition.
Actually, that's not true. I did have a util bootdisk written by some fella in .no that would let you start the computer and directly edit the NT SAM file to overwrite an account password with your own.. The diskette was a linux-based boot disk with a custom script and some binaries. The author's site went down and I've since taken the disk off-line due to security concerns that some admins had.
There's no reason at all that the diskette couldn't be modified to allow normal read/write access to an NTFS partition - 'cept that I have -very- limited knowledge of linux and so can't do this myself. If someone is willing to take a stab at it and upon successful completion makes it available back to me for posting as an NTFS bootdisk, I can make the image available to them.
