| I built one of these for realatives (NForce) |

It wasn't to bad. I put an Athlon 1.13 GHz and 256 MBs of PC2100 on it and it rivaled my machine (Athlon 850 GeForce2 PRO Gig PC133) on FPS running Armagetron. Granted most the specs on the NForce system where greater than mine but remember, my GeForce has it's own dedicated DDR RAM, the NForce "borrowed" it's RAM from the system. I would say overall it was excelent. I had six USB ports without adding a hub, the onboard NIC worked great, the sound had no problems and the graphics were definately GeForce. Overall it didn't beat a system that had individual components but with the budget they placed me under there's no way I could have bought components seperately and stayed in that budget. The fact that it has an AGP slot onboard for future upgrades was nice, and the ability to do 5.1 surround didn't hurt eaither.
The NForces counterpart in the Intel world is the I810. No AGP, standard stereo, and it makes my PIII 933 run like a PII 600. Not to mention that on Armagetron and Unreal I have to turn all the color and texture details way down and lower the resolution to play at all, forget the FPS. |
