What I would like to see, though, is trying to alleviate the ills of society not by making more laws, more regulations, but less laws, and those that are kept should be refined.
I know, this won't work just like that, because this would need the abolishment of lawyers, since they insist (and have to do so to defend the cause they are paid to defend) on twisting the laws in as many ways as possible to their advantage.
I just read an article about computers trying to understand natural language and why that is so hard. One point the author made was that humans can communicate easier with natural language, because they have a positive attitude towards the speaker, they want to understand, while a computer has no such thing, it just interprets whatever it hears.
This effect is happening right now in this discussion. If we didn't at least try to understand the others point of view, this discussion would be pointless and we might as well start flaming each other or waste bandwidth in other ways...
Same with laws. If all humans had a positive attitude towards the understanding of laws as they were intended and didn't try to tweak and twist them around all the time, then consensus could be reached and laws wouldn't need more and more laws to fix them. |
