I went to see "Black Hawk Down" with the expectation that it would be like "Saving Private Ryan" all the way through. It wasnt. It was boring and the special effects (with the exception of the unexploded RPG shell) were mediocre. IMHO, what made Saving Private Ryan special was that Speilberg had recorded the sound of a bullet striking flesh and bullets flying past the observer. These sounds are unique (and fairly easy to record), Black Hawk didn't do this and relied on visual effects only.
