I always understood that the rules for diaries were somewhat more open as to what passed the moderator's gaze, but not by a huge amount. Some of the more abusive jokes for instance can survive within diaries (as long as they are FYOS-compliant) but will be moderated to oblivion on the main board. I'm sure Kickstart/Nea/Mikosullivan/whoever will be able to give a more definitive answer than me, but as long as you're sensible about it you'll be fine.
