I've never used Slack before... feel they've turned into a nolstagia of users. Basicly, Slack ppl use Slack because it's Slack, the First Linux Distro.

While the sane tend to use RPM's or DEB's, whichever you choose... ;-) (Note: LSB-compliance says that RPM is the prefered package format. Not to start YAFW [Yet Another Flame War], but RPM does make for a good package system. Not to mention APT is available for RPM-based systems. A nice feature of RPMs is that they can carry a GPG sig. If one isn't found, an MD5 checksum is calculated. iirc, DEB does MD5's, but not GPG.)
