You should be able to fix it. Make sure you're logged in then click on the 'My Settings' link on the sidebar. Scroll most of the way down the page and there should be a text box labled 'Diary Top-Level Permanent Content:'. Make all the corrections you want and then click 'Save User Settings'. Voila, happy new top level content. (If it doesn't save there may be some unknown character in the text (I had that happen once), but if you find it and remove it you should be able to save again.)
