| According to people who have used Mandrake more than me. (which is almost all mandrake users) 8.1 is better. If you want something easy to install, and such, Mandrake 8.1 is the easiest to install, of the distros I have installed. (which is quite a number, and the hardest was zipslack over 1 floppy (aka 39 floppy write-transfer-read-transfer cycles)). It comes best setup of all the distros I have encountered. Of course you could try many distros. I would suggest upgrading.
Personally I have debian 2.2, a highly hacked redhat 7.2, caldera 1.3, rh 6.2, rh7.1, debian 2? (I didn't install it on the machine, it came with debian on it) on my personal machines. (I usually use my hacked Redhat 7.2) On machines I help administer, Redhat 7.2 and Mandrake 8.1 are used. |
