Won't you get roughly the same possible corruption of files from an improper reboot in Unix and friends as in Windows? What, then, is the difference between Start, Shutdown, OK and...what is it? 'shutdown -r now' or somesuch? There's not one. So I'm a little curious as to what your precise complain is, here.
