if you want to format the disk, then I guess you don't have any important data on the drive. Use FDISK to partition the drive (or to remove the partitions) NTFS drives come up as "NON-DOS" partitions.
Failing that, you could try booting off the NT CD-ROM and choosing a recover mode - some of the options here will let you go back to a command line prompt. and get access to the drives as required. - don't forget under the WINNT \ system32 directory (or is that the system directory) you still have all the old DOS utilities including format, fdisk, etc.
