If it's just a personal "vanity" website like most, yup, it's pretty lame. On the other hand, proposing on the front page of a site like Slashdot is the equivalent of proposing on a popular radio/TV station or the ticker in Times Square: He's broadcasting his undying love for this woman to thousands of people. If you think those are lame ways too, fine. If not, how is proposing on the front page of Slashdot any different?
