well - actually i think i just answered my own question - on Solaris there's an option to specify a message type (i'm trying to mail html in the body of a message) but there is no such option with the mail command on HP-UX - however i tried it - specifying Content-type:text/html at the top of the file - and sent it along - more on a whim than anything and it did what i wanted it to do :) *yay me*

next step is going to be to dump an output file into html to send via email - shouldn't be too hard
