Over half of the people I know who did an EE course became software engineers. I stuck with electronics and have spent over half my time writing software anyway (well VHDL/Verilog). Don't expect the job to be very similar to the course. Having said that I agree with the others, if you don't like the subject then change. There are few things more pointless than learning a subject you don't enjoy. And there is no such thing as wasted time in higher education. After all it's just an excuse to hang out with lots of people and have fun :)
