re mothersday... My daughter had her first major surgery May 13th(she was only 8 yrs old and they figured it might of been slowly growing for maybe 3 or so years.. it takes awhile to become symptomatic enough to be diagnosed.). She was diagnosed with cancer May 11th (just after mothersday in 98). They said had it been left 2 more weeks she'd of been dead. They removed a 5inch primary tumour from her brain but couldn't remove some bits of it and there were secondary tumours down her spine. 99 They pulled all treatment the week of mothersday. Saying there wasn't anything more they could do. Then a few months later my dad died of colon cancer in July. Not long after my parents 51 anniversary in June. Later in fall of 99 she went into remission and it was found she had a delayed reaction to chemo and radiation. But week of mothers day 2000 they said they thought they said it was back. Few months before that they screwed up on an xray and thought she needed surgery but didn't.(someone read the xray wrong luckily she refused surgery) Week of mothersday 2001 they said she might be terminal again and that meds weren't working so offered a last ditch attempt. An experimental that only 3 kids were on that was being shipped to canada from the US. To date she's probably the only child that has ever been on that drug so long or tolerated it as well as she did. I've had to watch her go peice by peice... but I'm thankful for the extra time I've had with her. With motherday week just now for several years I had awful news...
