nation. IIRC, their pay rate is 4th highest.
And, yes, it is possible to overpay them. Irvine is also one of the safest communities in Orange County, CA, so the cops have nothing better to do than obsess about minor traffic infrac's.
Don't get me wrong, I almost was a cop. I have great respect for the job. But this joker treated me like public enemy #1 for taking a corner faster than HE thought I should have. I did not fishtail (as he alleges) nor was I out of control.
I wouldn't be upset if he had just spoken to me in a respectful manner. But he was gruff and surly, and when I asked him to "please stop barking orders at me", he said I was in "no postion to be making demands here" and that if I just sit quietly, I "wouldn't get into any more trouble than I aready am".
Now, I'm 40 years old, and I resent being spoken to as if I were some wayward teen perched on a stool. |
