anyone installing by Kurioz 2002-02-08 20:45:32
what is effectively a 'server' OS (I know I use Linux as a desktop OS but its *not* one... yet [IMHO])... should take the time out to learn how to secure it. I think things have got better since the days of open httpd, ftpd, telnet, portmapper etc on a default install.. but I'm still not sure that anyone installing a M$ product is any more or less secure than anyone installing a Linux product. But I am prepared to bet that the script kiddies run around with more M$ tekniq than OpenSSH vulnerabilities....

*sigh* shouldn't have replied - v tired and beery :) just because I take the time to look after my machines doesn't mean everyone has to - or has the time to I know!
