you can't make RedHat or Mandrake secure. I'm saying that standard installs of them aren't very secure, and so maybe aren't the best for a new user from that point of view. After all, not everyone has a security-conscious friend around to secure their box, and someone new to Linux should have more important things to learn than how to fix security holes that shouldn't be there to begin with.
