For it to become a news item in the Static, it simply has to happen to one of the UF staff. It may not get mentioned in great detail ("Due to a tragic occurrence, [Random J. UserFriendly Staffmember] will no longer be working with us. On account of being nibbled to death by giant evil groin parasites, that is."), but I don't see how you could not mention it. Heck, all of British Columbia would be abuzz with the news, and well-nigh plunged into chaos. ("Mad Crab Disease terror grips Canada! Any reference to sex causes wild panic, even electronic parts catalogues advertising a wide selection of "male/female connectors!" Royal Canadian Mounted Police announce they will officially change their name to Royal Canadian Police Who Sometimes Ride On Horsies, as the original name struck people as sounding slightly naughty and therefore something to be nervous about! Death, doom, and despair, with lots of close-up bloody footage and inconsiderate harrassment of the victim's relatives, all tonight at 11!") Yeah, getting it into the Static would be easy. The only tough part would be finding a large supply of oversized man-eating crotch critters, and a UF staffmember willing to be devoured by them. The rest would take care of itself.
