Questions about Redhat Linux and WinXP by cural2002-02-08 12:53:29
Ok, so we've heard the arguments by Tactile 2002-02-08 15:10:26
mostly against RedHat. My question is what should a Linux Semi-Newbie like myself (I work with *nix machines to a limited degree, which means running scripts pre-programmed by others, at work daily) What shoudl I start with? I have worked with Windows for years and know the system inside and out. I would like to know Linux (*nix) the same way.
I just acquired a P2 laptop from a friend for cheap on which I have installed RH7.2
It has been a few weeks and I have learned a lot, but as all of you have mentioned, it does have the point and drool interface. Of course that's handy when you don't know the system very well, but it has also stunted my learning somewhat.
So what should I start with? I would like to be able to use *nix as a personal OS as well as advance in this field as a career.
Thanks in advance for all the advice.
