on purely defensive styles. Any strike, whether aimed at you or someone else, is subject to the same rules as if that person struck at you personally. Forms like Aikido don't focus on defensive as much as redirection. That makes it a defensive form, yes, but the redirection of energy flow is what makes it so difficult to learn. Also, there is plenty of attacking to be done in those forms as well. Don't ever think that just because an opponent uses a defensive style you will just be able to walk around him. Try it and you'll gain a new found appreciation for those forms. ;) ~SR~
