love makes you pick your teammate, but staying with them is often a matter of work and practical decisions. I know couples who love each other who aren't together because life messed them up. And I know couples who are together that don't love each other. Just love won't keep people together, there is work involved in any serious relationship. And lack of love won't necessarily make people split up, sometimes it's just easier to keep the status quo. Yes, it would be nice if it weren't that way, but sometimes it is.
