I mean't that aikido takes many years to use to some degree of practical effectiveness. Naturally, with anything, the more you practice the better you get... but with my instructor's style of jujitsu, the results are almost immediately visible so that you don't have to start from esoteric concepts. It's all a matter of the difference between do and jutsu.
